We had a DIY get together over the weekend to make homemade gifts for Mother’s Day. We found some great ideas on Pinterest – painted tote bags, mugs and a recipe book, but we were feeling especially inspired by Lauren Conrad’s dip dye stationery project. Perfect for any mom, the DIY project took blank note cards to a whole new level. The best part is the shopping list was simple – plain white blank note cards, a tie dye kit and some twine.

We opted for purple dye to give a nice ombre look to the cards. It took a few tries to really get the hang of it – but the best part of any DIY project is that you get to personalize the design (and make a few mistakes!)

An hour or so later and we had a beautiful set of cards to give to our moms. Quick tip: make sure the cards are dry before stacking and packaging. Once the cards were dry, we stacked the cards in bunches. The best part is that no one card turned out the same, giving the entire package an ombre effect.

To finish, take a little bit of twine to gather the package and voila! You have a beautiful Mother’s Day gift. This DIY idea can also be used for birthdays, teacher’s gifts or a thank you gift!
